Where the ancient past meets modern luxury
Wellness, healing, and spiritual awareness guide every treatment at Kao Kamasa Spa, where we honor the Pesh traditions and the environment of Roatán, Honduras.
The Pesh are an Indigenous group from northeast Honduras that has been present in the Bay Islands since the 16th century. Archaeological discoveries have shed light on their history, though much remains unknown, including the location of their legendary “White City” or “Kao Kamasa.” Today, only 10 Pesh villages remain, and with a population under 3,000, their language and culture are quickly fading.
At Kao Kamasa Spa, we pay tribute to the Pesh through thoughtful design, incorporating Pesh words, cultural elements, and artisanry throughout the space. Our treatments have been expertly curated to honor the customs and traditions of the Pesh, and we integrate the healing benefits of indigenous plants and herbs found in Roatán. The Pesh highly valued precious items like jade, obsidian, cacao, and handcrafted bells. We use these items in our spa's offerings, featuring our signature Cocoa Tonka Bean scent in all amenities.
We are deeply inspired by the Pesh culture and hope our dedication to their heritage resonates with you.
